2010 Ph.D., Creative Writing (Creative Non-Fiction), The University of Queensland. Thesis title: “Time, Space, Self: The Present Tense, Parataxis, and Narration in Memoir.” This work contains my memoir Ghost Wife and the exegesis “Present Tense, Parataxis, and the Autobiographical ‘I’ in Three Memoirs.”
2006 M.Phil., Creative Writing (Poetry), The University of Queensland. This work contains my poetry collection Electricity for Beginners and an exegesis about the trope of the unwritten poem in poetry.

My poems have appeared in The Best Australian Poems (ed. AWARDS & GRANTS
2012 Marten Bequest Travelling Scholarship (poetry): a grant of $20 000 to travel through Europe, NZ and the USA to promote Electricity for Beginners and participate in poetry workshops and invited readings.
2012 Electricity for Beginners Highly Commended, Anne Elder Award (for best first book of poetry in Australia in 2011).
2010 Australia Council grant to create new work (creative nonfiction), $15 000.
2010 Elizabeth George Fellowship: $500 and a month-long, all-inclusive residency at Hedgebrook, Whidbey Island, Washington. Awarded to the two highest-ranked Hedgebrook applicants of the year.
2008 Awarded an Australian Society of Authors Mentorship, to work with poet Judith Beveridge to revise my poetry manuscript “Electricity for Beginners” for submission to publishers.
2006 Australian Postgraduate Award: A stipend of approximately $20 000 annually for 3.5 years to complete doctoral studies in Creative Writing at the University of Queensland.
2003 UQ Joint Research Scholarship: A stipend of approximately $18 000 annually for two years to complete Master of Philosophy in Creative Writing at the University of Queensland.

2010–12 Researcher for two federally funded projects focused on Australian children’s literature and publishing. These projects, the Children's Literature Digital Resources project, and the Asian Australian Children's Literature and Publishing project, are administered by Queensland University of Technology and the scholarly database AustLit.
Editing and Writing
2010- Freelance writer and editor. My writing has been widely published in Australia (see “Publications”). As an editor, I have worked with masters and doctoral students in disciplines including education, library and information studies, creative writing, and media studies. Other clients have included non-profit organisations.
